I was born in Bogotá, Colombia on a Sunday in 1987. I do “doodles” by profession and teach about the creative profession. My CV says that I am a Visual Artist, Teacher, Illustrator and Cartoonist. I did a Master's degree in Illustration in Cambridge, England. I am the author of the graphic novel 'Elefantes en el cuarto' (2016), and Co-Author of the comic 'Recetario de sabores lejanos' (Chapter 2, 2020), both published by Cohete Cómics. I have illustrated books for Planeta, SM, Norma, Penguin Random House, Sietegatos and Ediciones del Castillo (Mexico). My comic strips and illustrations have been published in different media, such as El Espectador, El Tiempo, Publimetro, Arcadia, Bacánika Magazine, El Malpensante, Diners, Brígida Magazine (Chile) among others.
I have worked on different graphic campaigns for companies such as Goethe Institut, Fundación Compaz, Unesco, IFA laboratory ("Pile ou Face / Cara o Sello - A comic for peace".), and SiembraFest. For five years (2016-2021) I was Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the Javeriana University of Bogotá and, also in 2021, co-director of the Bogotá Graphic Narrative Workshop (IDARTES). I have been invited to give lectures and workshops on illustration, drawing and graphic narrative at Book Fairs and Festivals in different countries such as Cuba, Chile, Mexico, Norway and Panama. My work has been selected and exhibited at ImagenPalabra7 (2016), Salón Visual Bacánika (2017), SimbraFest (2017), Javeriana University Graduate Exhibition (2017), ENOUGH Project in Alberta, Canada (2018), Iluminaciones de Mirabilia ( 2019) and Comfandi Cultural Center, Cali, (2023). I have been a jury for the 'Cuentos Pintados' contest of the municipality of Sopó Cundinamarca (2018, 2019), for A33 Javerianos illustrators (2019), for the District Graphic Narrative Prize 2020, 2024 and for the District Illustration Prize 2019 and 2024 (IDARTES).
I am currently professor at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University in the area of 'Imagen Ilustrada' and, at the same time, I work as an independent/freelance illustrator with organisations such as Sentiido, Dejusticia, Colombia Diversa, among others, in the production of images, illustrations and workshops for campaigns in favor of human rights, gender equality and social equality. In my free time I love to play football, go out and dance tropical rhythms, go to the movies and drink something with my friends. I love sunbathing through the window of my house and going to the beach on vacation.
Over the years, I have discovered that making books is the best way to share stories, tales and adventures. I'm interested in creating editorial projects and the non-linear way in which graphic ideas evolve. A process that could be compared with the preparation of a new recipe: combining many ingredients, experimenting again and again, removing, adding, proposing and testing until you get the desired flavour. That is why I use illustration, drawing, comics, promoting reading and creating spaces to develop projects that involve visual languages: fanzines, drawing laboratories, GIFS design, traditional animation and comic creation. Then, my portfolio includes workshops where drawing and comics are essential tools for the development of activities with children's, youth and adult groups. One of my purposes is to encourage people to draw and tell their own stories, providing them with the basic tools to express themselves and, perhaps, communicate in ways they were not used to before.
Currently, I work on the following projects: a second graphic novel and several fiction and non-fiction children's books with educational content, such as Benny and his Jazz Orchestra. Some of the teachers I have studied with are: Diana Castellanos, Ana María Lozano, Martin Salisbury, Pam Smy and Marta Altés.
